Los Guatuzos Ecological Center is located on the southern coast of the municipality of San Carlos, Río San Juan, on the banks of the Río Papaturro, a river whose natural riches make your adventure through the region fully enjoyable.

How to get there?

To San Carlos, municipal seat of Río San Juan

 

By air: You can take a small plane from the Augusto C. Sandino National Airport in Managua and be in San Carlos in only 45 minutes.

By Land: If you don’t have your own vehicle, you can get a bus to San Carlos from the El Mayoreo market in Managua. The road infrastructure is being improved right now, so the trip by land could take approximately nine hours.


By Water: A boat leaves from the port area of Granada. The departure schedule at this time is twice a week, Monday and Thursday, at 2:00 PM.

During the trip you will pass by different ports in which you can observe the economic movement from city to city, and you will witness the spectacular sunset over the Island of Ometepe and dream-like dawn in San Carlos.

To Papaturro, community of Los Guatuzos:

 

By water: You can take one of the small boats known locally as “planas” from San Carlos or hire a private outboard motorboat that will take you to your final destination: Los Guatuzos Ecological Center, an environment of total harmony.

 

 

Local drivers from Los Guatuzos will be waiting for you at the San Carlos wharf to take you to Los Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge (if coordinated ahead of time).
